Insurers Brave Hot Coals to Change Young Lives

A team from Alan Boswell Group took on a firewalk for Break

Eleven brave ‘soles’ from Norwich based company, Alan Boswell Group (ABG), recently took the shortest, hottest walk of their lives across 20 foot of burning embers, raising £6,800 for local charity Break – to change young lives.

The team was comprised of Directors and staff from the Chartered insurance broker and independent financial planners – with some coming from the Group’s Bury and Peterborough offices to take part.

T;he event was a unique way for the company to raise funds and was a step into the unknown, putting participants out of their comfort zone – and doing the one thing they advise to avoid – take a risk!

John Whitehead, ABG Managing Director said: “The whole experience of the Firewalk was quite amazing. You are left with a feeling that you could do almost anything. The training is such an important part of the experience and whilst uplifting in itself this also provides the confidence and reassurance that you will succeed on the night. The team from Alan Boswell Group, Blaze [the firewalk company] and Break were all so encouraging and you are left with such a sense of achievement in what we have raised for this fantastic charity.”

This event was part of twelve months of fundraising by the Group who made Break their Charity of the Year for 2015.  Other activities have included dress down days, bake sales and even sponsoring a GoGoDragon!  A final sum raised from the year will be announced in January but it is hoped that this year will be the most successful for ABG and their 220 strong workforce.

Funds raised from this event will go to supporting Break’s work with vulnerable children, young people and families here in East Anglia – from children’s homes to providing support workers for young people leaving care, giving them someone to turn to as they begin to live independently.
